50mm Lens Meetup

Saturday 18 July
Art of Animation Way, Lake Buena Vista - 10:30am - 2 Hours
Rebecca Kames
The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographer’s gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle or telephoto lens, but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we’ll review the basic camera settings. We’ll then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques to using the 50mm lens. As always, there will be ample opportunities for you to put your new knowledge into practice.

Taken during a Maine vacation, this image of an old abandoned cottage in Kennebunkport on a cold and overcast April afternoon is what I pre-visualized before pressing the shutter, a weathered lonely building aging gracefully. This image was made with a Nikon Z6ii in manual mode and a MK ii, 24 - 70 mm, f/2.8, S line lens.

This photo was taken on Apopka Vineland Road, located in the Windermere area of West Orlando. This stretch of road has always held a special place in my heart because of its relaxing ambiance. I have traveled this canopy-covered road many times and have often been envious of those who get to experience its beauty every day. I hope that one day I can retire to a home with a similar tree-lined driveway to call my own?it would make even a simple walk to the mailbox feel special. Canon R6 Miii, RF 7

I was actually on location to photograph some Ibis that were roosting to the left and out of frame. I set up in the dim light just before dawn. I noticed that something beautiful was occurring as the sky overhead became brighter as the sun began to rise. The sun was behind a bank of clouds of which there was a small gap between layers. I snapped the photo when the sun momentarily appeared in that gap. I was lucky. Those exact conditions will never occur again. For me, it's the abilit

This image captures the launch of Starlink 10-40, which lifted off from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral at 5:52am. I enjoy telling stories through my photography, and I loved the idea of framing the Falcon 9 as it arced over the lifeguard station. The silhouettes of people along the beach add a sense of scale as they watch the rocket climb into orbit.

While setting up for the SpaceX Starlink 6-110 launch, I noticed a C-130 flying approaches into Patrick Space Force Base.At 6:04 PM, the rocket lifted off the pad. As I tracked the ascent through the viewfinder, the C-130 entered the frame. I briefly paused shooting and waited for the two to visually align before capturing a series of frames.Although they appear extremely close in the image, they were actually more than 15 miles apart. The perceived proximity is due to lens compression a
