50mm Lens Meetup

Sunday 24 March
Downtown Sanford, Florida - 9am - 2 Hours
Michael Wacht
The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographer's gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle nor telephoto lens but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we'll review the basic camera settings. We'll then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques for using the 50mm lens. As always, there will be ample opportunities for you to put your new knowledge into practice.

West Texas and the Texas Panhandle have some of the greatest sunsets in the world. Windmills helped settle this part of the country by providing life giving water for settlers and their livestock. I set up in this location, waiting for the sunset. A friend and his horse were positioned and the sky was manipulated some with Photoshop to create this photo.

Taken on Thanksgiving morning I basically just set out to get some me time in before all the hectic festivities and kept my fingers crossed hoping the sky would be interesting for a good sunrise session and it was. This photo was the last one taken in a series of shots intended for an Instagram post displaying the timeliness of a sunrise. Thanks for the consideration. Also mods delete this paragraph if necessary but I've had some people from the group reach out to me for lessons and I'd lov

The story behind this photo is the following: On April 8th I met with a fantastic group of photographers who gathered from different parts of the USA, South America and Canada in Lakeland to attend the Air Show. Followed that, we decided to visit Circle B Bar reserved the next day with my photographer friends Roberto Valdes and Daniel Sanabria. We met at 7:30 am in the parking lot and the atmosphere was perfect, foggy morning, lots of wildlife. But our main purpose was to photograph the famou

As a deep space photographer, I like to take photos of outer space targets that our eyes cannot see. These photos require a lot of patience and a lot of clear nights reason why my telescopes are working almost every night when it isn't cloudy. Astrophotography is very different from all the other types of photography, a single photo sometimes requires tens of hours under the clear night sky but the result is very satisfying. In this photo, I would like to present to you the California Nebula

This is part of a huge street art display, a real gem in Leeds. I loved the different displays of hands walking, creates a real sense of movement and intrigue. Photo was taken around 11am. The light you see shining on the hand is from a wall light. Camera setting - F4.2, 1/400 shutter and ISO 200.

One of the creative artistic edits of my images. I love to create motion and fluidity in an image to set it apart from the run of the mill shot by creating drama and emotion using my post processing skills.
