We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Orlando. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

We also occasionally hold more formal beginners classes which last 3 hours and are limited to 6 people. These classes are perfect for complete beginners who want to start using manual mode and those who want to brush up on the basics. See the dates below.

Long Exposure Photography combined with City Night Photography - University of Central Florida Top Floor - 7pm - 2 hours
A beautiful sunset can be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. Photographers refer to the last (dusk) hours of the day as the "golden hours" when the light is at its best for photography. We WILL be using a tripod. Please make sure to bring a tripod, a camera with manual mode functions, a wide angle and/or normal range lens

I thought it was a good event for my first time with the Orlando Photography Group. I have a somewhat better understanding of the basics of photography, but I definitely will have to join some more classes or meet ups to deepen my understanding which is totally fine- I know I'm not going to become a genius in one session :).

Loved the beginner's photography with Sharan. I learned a lot and I am looking forward to many more classes with him as the instructor. Very informative and he had a lot of patience with the class as he went around answering all of our questions.

Going into this as a new member, frankly I did not know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. The instructor had a high level of expertise and yet was very good at explaining basic things to those of us who needed it. I enjoyed it so much I want to do more things with this group in the future. He was a fine and Brilliant young man who has a passion for photography. He was very tactful and did not make anyone feel belittled for asking questions that maybe some would have scoffed at. He was very understanding and compassionate in that way.
